WE PLAYED!
1st Annual Event was a HUGE Success!
Over 2,000 people attended the first annual LET'S PLAY! Sports and Fitness Fest that took place January 14th - 16th at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center.
Fifty-one sport clubs and organizations were on hand giving information about their particular sport or fitness activity plus conducting free clinics and classes. Attendees were able to try out these activities to see if they fit their lifestyles and they had the ability to join the club as well.
Folks got to watch tournament action in such sports as men's gymnastics, youth basketball, fencing and martial arts. The Dockyard Derby Dames had two mini-bout sessions while the Seattle Slam Quad Rugby team faced off with the team from Portland. The Sports Stacking booth was a big hit with kids as was the Dodgeball and Pickleball games. There were plenty of participants at the football combines that were conducted by the South Sound Shockers football team and the YMCA's fitness classes in Zumba, yoga, pilates and kickboxing were well received.
LET'S PLAY! also benefitted the Emergency Food Network with the food drive. Cost of admission to this event was 5 non-perishable food items. If someone forgot their food, they could purchase a prepackaged bag of food that was provided by T City Grocers. Click the link above for more information regarding the food drive.
LET’S PLAY! Sports and Fitness Fest was hosted by Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Commission and the Tacoma Children's Museum for the purpose of bringing people together through sports. Let's Play! also partnered with MultiCare Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Fleet Feet Sports and the YMCA to bring this one of a kind event to Tacoma.
